The following list outlines the minimum safety equipment required on
\nSail Boats up to 6M (19’8″)<\/strong>. You may want to bring more equipment based on your type of boat, your activity and the current and forecasted weather and water conditions. You can review the equipment you must carry aboard your boat and
\nget specific information about each piece.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

One (1) lifejacket or PFD for each person on board.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
One (1) reboarding device<\/p>\n

\u2022 One (1) sternlight<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sidelights;<\/p>\n

\u2022 One (1) sternlight; and<\/p>\n

\u2022 Two (2) all-round lights in a vertical line, the upper being red and the lower green<\/p>\n

\nOPTION 3 <\/b><\/p>\n

\u2022 One (1) lantern, combining the sidelights and sternlight above<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\nOPTION 4 <\/b><\/p>\n

(if other options are not practicable)<\/p>\n

\u2022 An electric torch or lighted lantern showing a white light (a watertight flashlight is acceptable) that you must use far enough in advance to prevent a collision<\/p>\n

Boats under
\n7m<\/strong> are not required to show prescribed lights and marks, except in or near a narrow channel, fairway or anchorage, or where other vessels normally navigate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

NOTE :<\/strong> In the Canadian waters of a roadstead (mooring area), harbour, river, lake or inland waterway,
\na sail boat under 7 m<\/strong> that is also being propelled by a motor
\nis not required<\/strong> to exhibit forward a conical shape (point downwards) where it can best be seen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
